  • 3 slices bacon
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 sleeve soda crackers (crushed)
  • Peanut oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Clean and dry the morel mushrooms after soaking in salt water.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. In another bowl, combine crushed soda crackers, flour, salt, and pepper for the coating.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix cream cheese with crumbled bacon, minced green onion, chopped jalapeños, and cheddar until smooth.
  4. Stuff each morel half with the cheese mixture.
  5. Dip each stuffed mushroom into the egg mixture followed by the coating mixture.
  6. Heat peanut oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry until golden brown on all sides.
